Overview

This circular route from Rubery offers winter woodlands and great views. Starting from Rubery it climbs steadily to the Beacon on roads and woodland tracks. After stopping at the viewpoint, the route goes across open areas and woodland to the obelisk before crossing to Lickey Warren. At the visitor centre we can enjoy our picnics and rest before continuing on Bilberry Hill, around the golf course and finishing in Rubery at a cafe. Distance 5.5 miles, 900ft (320m) total climb.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS: The walk will start at 10.30 am from Beverley Road, Rubery. Please meet the leader and group at Beverley Road bus stop, beside Tesco’s, Rubery, postcode B45 9JL. Getting to the start: By bus from City Centre: catch bus no.63 opposite New Street Station bus stop NS3 at 9.45am arriving at Beverley Road, Rubery 10.15 am. This bus stop is just after the bus leaves the A38 southbound carriage way. Journey time approximately 45 minutes from opposite New Street Station. By car: Tesco’s have unrestricted parking but it is a small car park and spaces may be limited. Alternatively on street parking on Leach Green Lane. Parking areas are marked and there are no time restrictions. Do not park in shopping bays on New Road, as time restrictions apply. Toilets are available at the start of the walk and midway. Brings a picnic snack or lunch and enjoy hot drinks and maybe more in Rubery at the end of the walk.
