This linear walk from Alresford to Winchester starts at 10.12 at the Alresford Broad St bus stop. This allows anyone travelling from Winchester to take the No64 bus from The Broadway in Winchester at 9.50 arriving 20 minutes later in Alresford. (I will join the bus at 9.52 at the Quarry Rd stop.) There is free parking at the Chesil St CP I believe and there are usually spaces in Quarry Rd where Sunday parking is free all day.
If starting the walk in Alresford buses back from Winchester are 2x an hour at 40 and 10 minutes past the hour.
The route is that of the last leg of the St Swithun’s Way essentially. We walk through field and on tracks and lanes with the River Itchen not far from us though only visible for parts of the walk.
