This is a lovely walk using mostly good metalled paths and trails following the disused railway lines, now the Teversal and Rowthorne Trails, as well as a short stretch of road walking. We will pass through Lady Spencer's Wood and through the Hardwick Estate owned by the National Trust. There will be a short section of field walking and a woodland which could be very wet and muddy. Good walking boots and poles are advisable. Views over rolling hills and farmland wilth distant views over Pleasley pit top. Close views of both old and new Hardwick Halls. The later being the home of Bess of Hardwick, the richest woman in Elizabethan England after Elizabeth I. Two small hills and no stiles. Interest points. Coffee and picnic stops.
