Overview

A route combining part of the Avon Valley, with the open landscape of Salisbury Plain ridgeway. From Upavon the route follows the course of the river. A short section of road then leads to North Newnton, a chance to visit the church. We then follow a section of the White Horse Trail, which leads to Charlton St. Peter, before joining a steep, wooded track, rising steeply to the Plain. Good views across the North Wessex Downs towards Alton Barnes White Horse. The route heads downhill to return to Upavon.

Please bring refreshments for 2 stops.
