Overview

This is not your usual Rosedale Walk.  We Start in Rosedale Abbey then head upwards to Hartoft Rigg.  After crossing the Hartoft Road we drop to High Wind Hill Farm before making our way over Hamer Moor towards the Egton Road by Shunner Howe.

We continue past Shunner Howe then turn left onto Northdale Rigg passing Jobs Well. Continuing along the Rigg we eventually drop into Northdale before reaching our cars in Rosedale Abbey.

Distance is just under 10 miles with an ascent of about 1300 ft. Most of the ascent is at the beginning to reach Hartoft Rigg.

There are Sheep and Cows in some of the fields in the valley but all where docile and caused no problems on the recce.

There is some uneven ground on the moor and there will be wet places.

There are some stiles in the valley

The views are excellent and the Heather should still be in full bloom.

Public Toilets are available in Rosedale abbey and there are two cafes.

Parking is on street or in the front and rear carparks of the hotel which is now closed.
