A meeting to look at possible walks for the Hampstead Ramblers holiday in Newcastle from the 26th July to the 2nd August 2024 and who is able to lead them.
All holiday participants are invited.
The walks proposed to date are as follows but other suggestions (including alternatives) would be very welcome:-
Saturday 27 July - a 10 mile coastal walk from Sunderland via Souter Lighthouse and back led by a leader from Tyneside Ramblers. Opportunities to drop out by bus and also to continue north along coast path for 5 miles from Souter Lighthouse to South Shields.
Sunday 28 July - a 6 mile circular morning walk from Winlaton Mill in the 'Land of Oak and Iron' led by a leader from Tyneside Ramblers
Monday 29 July - a 12 mile walk with drop-out points (particularly from Vindolanda Fort after 6 miles) taking in a stretch of Hadrian's Wall, also including Winshield Crags (the highest point) and Housesteads Fort.
Tuesday 30 July - a 12 mile walk along another stretch of coast path, this time from North Shields to Seaton Sluice, followed by peaceful Holywell Dene. Several opportunities to drop out by bus or Metro.
Wednesday 31 July - a 10 mile circular walk from Wall village via a section of Hadrian's Wall and St Oswald's Church with an optional extension to the remains of two Roman bridges across the Tyne.
Thursday 1 August - an 11 mile linear walk from Stocksfield Station to Wylam Station with views, woods and historic features with opportunities to drop out to Prudhoe Station.
