I'll be organising two walks over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), both based around Rivington and the West Pennine Moors.
It's around 1 hour 45 minutes away (driving) from Shrewsbury/Telford, so there is the option to join either walk as a day trip, or to make a weekend of it and book yourselves accommodation or camping.
The walks should be accessible via public transport - catch a train to Manchester Piccadilly, then change onto a Blackpool North train, before getting off at either Horwich or Blackrod. From here it's probably best to book a taxi, although there is a summer bus from Horwich station into Rivington.
There's a great camper van site at the Rivington Brewery, but this gets booked up very quickly so I would book early to avoid disappointment! There is another camper van site in Rivington and various Airbnbs/B&B's in the area. I would recommend staying in either Rivington, Belmont, Anglezarke or maybe Horwich.
I'll look to book a meal at the local curry house in Horwich for the Saturday evening for those that want to join.
