A follow-up to the Easter Sunday walk to view Calderdale's ever-changing woodlands. From Elland Bridge we ascend to Elland Park Wood, Binns Wood, Cromwell Wood and Freeman's Wood, and then along the canal to Brighouse. We return roughly following the railway line back to Elland via Reins Wood and Sangstry Wood before descending to cross the river Calder at Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve, returning along the canal to our start point.
Bring a packed lunch to enjoy in good company. Calderdale can be somewhat muddy and with changeable weather, so it is strongly recommended to wear suitable footwear and clothing for the forecast conditions.
Meet at the junction of Gasworks Lane and Elland Bridge. There is some on-road parking on Gasworks Lane but this is limited so carsharing is suggested. Public transport is available to the centre of Elland and the bridge is a short walk away from Morrisons supermarket.
