This is a 9 mile linear walk starting from Barrhead Station and heading up to Ferenze Braes for a coffee stop at the cairn. We’ll then walk via the side of Glenburn Reservoir (potentially muddy with a small stream to cross, hopefully not a torrent) across Gleniffer Braes to the (Robertson) ‘car park in the sky’. It’s a good place for lunch and if the weather’s clear there will be fabulous views North. Then it’s along to Bardrain Wood and down to Windyhill and Craigton Woods before a brief section on quiet roads to Milliken Park Station from where trains run to Glasgow Central every 30 minutes or so.
The walk is mainly on very clear paths, most hard surface but some narrower and muddy, boggy or, possibly, completely covered in puddles, so boots are needed. Ascents and descents are mostly gentle, but there is a steep pull up at the very start and a few steep or stepped sections towards the end.
There are no public toilets en route, but some areas with trees which you might be able to hide behind.
Walkers should carry an "in case of emergency" card with contact details.
