We start from The Malt in Aston-on-Trent and walk along some quiet roads. On the edge of the village, we join a track between fields and head towards Weston Grange. Another track takes us to the village of Weston. A short way through the village at a picturesque sign, we join a path that winds past a scenic lake. After a short road section across the railway, we join a track to St Mary the Virgin Church. This then leads us to Tarasivka, a Ukrainian Youth Centre. Very soon, we cross a bridge and join the Trent and Mersey Canal. We follow the canal for over a mile, passing various locks and bridges. At Aston Lock, we leave the canal and head back to Aston.
This walk is part of my Flat 5 Series. There are no stiles and the paths are well made. There will be a drink stop, so please bring any drinks or snacks with you. There is some road walking but the route is mainly along tracks, paths or a canal towpath.
There is no need to book the walk, just turn up on the day. If you wish to join us for a meal at The Malt after the walk, please email the leader before 26th May, so a firm meal booking can be made.
Car parking is available at the Malt or nearby streets. If you can offer a lift or require one, please contact the walk leader.
