This walk forms part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the East Leake Challenge, a 17.75 mile walk devised in 2000 by Dennis Fox to mark the new Millennium.
This circular walk follows some of the ridges around East Leake and utilises a very ancient pathway, in this case the Portway track which runs along the golf course past the Cuckoo Bush.
We start the walk in the car park at Meadow Park in the centre of East Leake, then follow the Frank Kirk Way under the railway tunnel and along the Kingston Brook before climbing Fox Hill. We walk along the ridge towards the golf course with good views, then turn towards the Cuckoo Bush overlooking Gotham. The walk heads down into Gotham before following the route of a dismantled railway east then head south over Sharpley Hill back into East Leake. The walk is mostly over field paths with just a few stiles.
If you would like to join this walk please contact the Leader using the email link.
Please bring a packed lunch.
The start is about 10 miles or 25 minutes from West Bridgford. Public toilets are available at the carpark.
