From the library in West Bridgford, we head for Melton Road to join the track of a former railway, now known as the Green Line. This wooded path has the feel of the countryside even though lines of houses are close by.
The Green Line leads us to the village of Edwalton, where we have a drink break at the church. Then we join a path leading us to the Grantham Canal. After a pleasant walk along the canal towpath we return to Bridgford Park and the Library.
This walk is part of my Flat 5 Series There are no stiles and the paths are well made. The walk is mainly along paths but there is some road walking.
There is no need to book for this walk, just turn up on the day. During the walk, there will be a drinks stop. After the walk, there is the opportunity to grab a drink, snack or meal and a natter at one of the local cafes or restaurants in West Bridgford.
There are several car parks in the area (charges apply). Some free on street parking is available within a short walk (some have permit parking only or time restrictions so check before parking).
Public transport: an extensive bus service connects with Nottingham city centre, Keyworth, Cotgrave, Edwalton, Radcliffe.
