Overview

A varied route using minor roads, good tracks and rough moorland around Simonburn, an attractive village with a long history and a derelict castle. St. Mungo is said to have fled from Glasgow to Simonburn in the 6th century leaving his legacy in the name of the 13th century church that dominates the village green. At the end of the walk there is an opportunity to explore the village and relax at the Simonburn tea shop.
