This urban walk marks St Valentine's Day by taking a tour round some of the places that have made Glasgow a city of love.
If you would like to come on the walk after reading the description, please contact the leader from 1 February onwards.
This walk starts at Buchanan Street bus station and weaves through the city down to the river, into the Gorbals, through Glasgow Green and the Barras and back to the city centre. If you don't think that sounds romantic, think again.
We'll encounter dance halls where many a couple met and stand on the spot where some were ditched before love ever had a chance to blossom. We'll see statues which have romantic significance and nod to some of Glasgow's great romantic partnerships. Our stops will include a visit to the Blessed John Duns Scotus Church in the Gorbals where the remains of St Valentine's bones are kept in a small wooden box.
This is a flat, urban walk. We start at Buchanan Bus station in front of the departure board at 10am. Although this is a themed walk, we will try not to spend too much time standing still as we pass places of interest. Weather permitting we'll take a short tea break in the Rose Garden in the Gorbals.
