Overview

You can always trust leader Derek to choose an interesting route above Barmouth; he has been walking these hills for decades and knows them like the back of his hand! Today, we start by walking along the prom to Barmouth Harbour and then head up through Orielton Wood and on to the Panorama Walk, with its amazing views of the Mawddach Estuary and Cadair Idris beyond. We then follow the old coach road, now a rough track, to Cutiau before heading up on to the hillside past a radio mast. Here we turn back towards Gorllwyn and on to old quarry remains. Our walk finishes by following a footpath down “the hundred steps” and back to the town.
