Lindow Common and the Carrs.
10.30 am start. Meet at Wilmslow Common Car Park (free), Racecourse Road, SK9 5LR; SJ 8836 8140; 53.3293N 2.25131W; What3Words:///material.ombudsman.sectors
A walk of about 3.5 miles, mainly on hard surfaced tracks, but muddy in places. No stiles. Almost flat, with two slight inclines, 100ft. ascent (OS) across the walk. Please bring a drink and snack (or buy at the cafe, as preferred).
We circle Black Lake, taking time to watch the waterfowl, and visit the memorial stone of the presentation of Lindow Common to the residents of Wilmslow in 1897. We cross the busy A538 and the Carnival Field on our way to Hawthorn Lane and the Carrs. We shall have a break at picnic tables near the cafe and toilets (20p, cash or card). We follow the River Bollin to its confluence with the R. Dean, then cross the Bollin and ascend a slight incline towards the Rugby Ground. We return to Lindow Common along quiet roads and bridleways, and complete the walk by crossing more open aspects of the Common.
PLEASE CHECK OUR WEBSITE ON THE DAY FOR ANY CHANGES TO THE WALK. NB Finish times are intended as a guide only. You do not need to book a place on this walk.
Ramblers Association recommends that all walkers carry ICE (in case of emergency) information
