Overview

This walk passes through lands owned by the medieval manors of Moreton and Dockham for around a thousand years. Beginning at Moretonhampstead, we skirt Butterdon Down to arrive at Fingle Woods and then use some of the lesser known woodland paths to reach Wooston Hillfort. Then on to Halls Cleave, Mardon Down and Moretonhampstead. Along the way, we learn a little about the history of the lands and the people who worked in the woods during the 20th century.
