We start from Godstone pond opposite The White Hart, where there is free parking in the street. The nearby Carpark is restricted to maximum stays of 3 hours.
We head East to Church Town and St. Nicholas Church, where Edmund Seyfang-Taylor is buried. Taylor, popularly known as 'Walker Miles', wrote and published around 40 'sixpenny' guides covering walks in Surrey, Kent, and Sussex. After founding the Croydon Rambling Club, he went on to create the Federation of Rambling Clubs with representatives of other London-based clubs, an organisation which eventually became part of the Ramblers.
From here we head past Leigh Place and join the Greensands way, climbing up to the South Side of Tiburstow Hill, with views to the South, and continue along until we reach South Park Lane which we take south to South Park Farm and St Mark's Chapel.
After a short stop we head west, through fields and Woodland until we reach M23 and re-join the Greensands way. We head north through the Sandhills estate (including Castle and Sandhills Farm), which were donated to the National Trust in 1968 by the Countess of Munster and climb up to Castle Hill on the outskirts of Bletchingley where the South Downs can be seen on a clear day. We stop for a picnic lunch in Bletchingley after 7 miles. After lunch we re-join the Greensands Way and follow until we reach South Park Lane and head North over Tilburstow Hill, and down through Garston Park to Godstone.
