This walk has been postponed from June 27th because of very poor weather forecast for the original date.
Running to the south and east of the main Rhinogydd ridge lies the long, low top of Craig Wion, an unspoiled wilderness of rock and heather terraces flanked by two little lakes, Llyn Pryfed and Llyn Twr-glas. This is the area to be explored on today's walk. We start by following a footpath up from Cwm Bychan over relatively easy terrain alongside the main Rhinog ridge. Then, on reaching Bwlch Gwylim we turn away from the ridge to traverse the often pathless ground towards the little lakes, eventually reaching Llyn Pryfed, just below Craig Wion. Soon, we turn again to begin walking against the grain of the land and across "the badlands", a series of low rocky ridges between Craig Wion and Bwlch Tyddiad at the top of the Roman Steps. Our route picks its way via steep, rocky gullies with a bit of easy scrambling, taking us over the ridges and eventually to the bwlch. From here we follow the well-used path back down the Roman Steps to Cwm Bychan.
