From the village we follow the farm tracks over the fields before turning off and and head uphill to the top of Rylstone Fell . From here we then follow the foopath across the moor for three miles until we reach Rolling Gate Nook where we will stop for a lunch break beside a stone shooting lodge. After the break drop down from the moor into the village of Thorpe and then cross several fields to reach Thorpe Lane . We then have a long road walk which takes us into the village of Cracoe where we will stop at the local farm shop for after walk refreshments, we then have a further mile to walk back into Rylstone village.
There are great views (weather dependant) once on top of the moor and we will stop at both the monuments for photographs. There are good footpaths/farm tracks at low level but the path over the moor is quite rocky in places and may also be muddy. We have a couple of inclines to make particularly at the start of the walk and several stiles to cross at low level and it may be possible that we encounter cattle in some of the fields we have to cross.
The parking alongside the duck pond in Rylstone is quite limited so car sharing would help.
