A walk of around 10 miles – seven following the Seven Lochs Way. We will start at Robroyston Station (just under one-and-a-half miles from the official walk start) and end at Blairhill Station (one-and-a-half miles from the walk’s official end).
From the start at Robroyston we follow pavement to the North end of Hogganfield Loch (lots of swans) and walk around to the South end and the start of the Seven Lochs Way. This takes us round most of the rest of Hogganfield Loch, then close to Frankfield Loch and Cardowan Moss towards Provan Hall, Glasgow’s oldest house for a picnic lunch stop – hopefully the house, small museum and toilets will be open. The route then heads to Bishops Loch and nature reserve, Commonhead Moss and passes over the M73 before entering Drumpelier Country Park – the Way ends at the visitor centre (toilets and café). We’ll then head round Lochend Loch and through the park to Blairhill Station.
The route is mostly flat, on tarmac and hard paths, so easy walking, but probably with some puddles and mud – so please wear boots. It is mainly through rather lovely woodland paths, which more than compensates for the little bits past housing estates, litter, upturned trolleys and fly tipping.
As above, there should be open toilets at Provan Hall and Drumpelier Visitor Centre – but it’s never guaranteed!
Please contact the leader no earlier than two weeks before the walk (Jan 23rd) to book a place and please provide a contact number in case arrangements change.
Walkers should carry an "in case of emergency" card with contact details. Please do not come if you have any Covid symptoms.
And finally … the walk will be cancelled if there’s a danger of slippery paths due to snow or ice.
