Overview

The walk follows a route through Strensall Common, after which we proceed to Great Wood, Lilling Low Lane and Lilling Green, eventually joining the path alongside the River Foss until we divert to fields leading to Ellis Wood and then back to Strensall. The terrain is flat with 3 stiles and features wide open spaces and lovely woodland.  There is a stretch of quiet road walking..

A cut off point near a bus stop allows the walk to be shortened by a couple of miles if desired.
