This walk is now fully subscribed. If you would like to put your name on the reserve list then contact the leader in the usual way and should there be any cancellations you will be offered a place on the walk.
Starting in Crianlarich we will join the West Highland Way and walk south along an uneven but good path which goes gently downhill for about 2 miles. Crossing over the A82 through a sheep creep the way continues along the spectacular river Falloch. This section has quite beautiful scenery on all sides as you pass through Glen Falloch surrounded by mountains. The final mile of this walk takes us past Inverarnan to Ardleish. Here we will call the ferry at 16:10 and take the 10 minute trip across Loch Lomond to the Ardlui Hotel. We might have time for a quick refreshment at the hotel before catching the 977 bus at 16:56 which gets us back to Glasgow at 18:30. Alternatively, anyone wanting to relax for a bit with a drink before going home can catch the next bus at 17:46. I’ve booked this one and arrive in Glasgow 19:21.
Walking boots are best but good walking shoes would suffice if the weather is dry.
It will be necessary to book the bus journey in both directions as early as possible. The bus is usually full on the way back. It's the 914 Citylink service to Crianlarich and the 977 service from Ardlui Hotel to Glasgow. Bus times from Ardlui are 16:56 and 17:46. A train service to and from Central station operates and a train leaves for Glasgow from Ardlui at 17:42 (cost £19:20 or £12:80 with a rail card)
If you wish to come on the walk you must contact the leader in advance by email, text or phone call, but no more than 2 weeks in advance. Please provide a contact number in case arrangements change.
Walkers should not come if they have any COVID symptoms.
Walkers should carry an "In case of emergency" card with contact details.
