We will walk from the Wintersett Country Park Visitor Centre around the reservoir/lake and follow a field path around what was the Walton Estate to Walton Village where we will stop for a picnic lunch. We will return following the now redundant Barnsley to Wakefield Canal around Haw Park Wood and back to the Visitor Centre where there are toilets and a cafe.
There are only one or two styles and the paths are good.
There is a local bus service from Wakefield to Wintersett Village which is approximately half a mile from the Visitor Centre CP.
Visitor Centre CP fee is £2 for 4 hours.
Wintersett Anglers country Park Visitor Centre Car park at the end of Haw Park Lane.
