We start at the Car Park at the bottom of the Main Street where the Toilets are located £1.80 all day
We walk over the bridge through Bewerley. Then to Fishpond Wood and up to Gilbeck Farm.
We then head north to Heathfield by going down into the main Nidderdale valley and walking up the Nidderdale Way. From Heathfield we go down to cross the Nidd at Wath bridge. We then walk to the southern end of Gouthwaite Reservoir and follow the track back to Wath . The return to Pateley is alongside the river.
There are two main accents on this walk. The first is a steady climb of about 2 miles to Gilbeck farm . The second from the Nidd valley to Heathfield.
There is a an escape route at the half way stage before the second climb by returning down the Nidd valley .
On the recce on Sunday all terrain was passable but the grass fields were wet.
Total walk Distance 9.5 miles Total accent about 1400 ft
There is an opportunity to reduce the distance to 8 Miles and accent to 1150ft by cutting out the loop to the base of Gowthwaite Reservoir.
