Overview

B WALK DESCRIOTION: This is a circular walk taking in views of Calke Abbey while walking through the grounds (National Trust), and Staunton Harold Reservoir and visiting Melbourne without getting on a plane! We start heading briefly South to pick up footpaths West and North-West on the Cross Britain Way to find Calke Abbey before crossing Calke Abbey Nature Reserve.  The walk then skirts the Reservoir with views across the water to the east and onward to the Visitors Centre with facilities by the lake at Melbourne Hall, and pubs in Melbourne. We will pause here for lunch. Following this, we travel East and South again following the Cross Britain Way for a short time before turning across fields and the ancient Park Pale boundary to return to the coach. The walk is fairly flat but can be muddy. 10 miles; 762 ft ascent.
