This is a marvelous route beginning with a steep climb out of the Calder valley at Todmorden, through woodland, moors and ancient tracks and bridleways to encircle the famous Napoleonic landmark of Stoodley Pike.

Pennine walking can be exposed and muddy underfoot during the winter months so walkers are encouraged to check the forecast conditions and come prepared with appropriate kit. Bring a packed lunch and warm drink to enjoy outdoors.  Todmorden and Hebden Bridge both boast a number of pubs and cafes for a post-walk reward.

Meet at Lobb Mill viaduct carpark and picnic area, just off the A646 before entering Todmorden proper if travelling from Halifax direction. This is a small popular spot but further parking is available on a lay-by nearby. Public transport by bus runs along the A646.
