Please note this is a Saturday walk.
This is an 11.5 mile walk, that starts from the ancient port and market town of Hythe. Formerly a Cinque Port with a harbour, however by 1450, the harbour had silted up.
We begin going into the town, joining the Elham Valley Way rising gradually to pass alongside a Trig Point on Sene Valley Golf Course.
We turn left to make our way towards Saltwood, passing through the churchyard, and a short while our route sees us join the Saxon Shore Way. This we remain on through Chesterfield Wood to cross the busy road just beyond Pedlinge Church and onwards to the Shepway Cross at Lympne.
Lympne has commanding views over the Romney Marsh, then we drop down beside the Zoo at Port Lympne. However this short descent can be awkward in places, so take care!
We arrive on terra firma beside the Royal Military Canal, which is followed for most of the remainder of the circuit.
Usual snack/lunch picnic stop, plus visit to Unit One at West Hythe for drinks.
