A walk to commemorate the many years that John Brewer led an annual walk in London.
We meet as a group at Winchester Railway Station outside the ticket barriers on the north bound side (platform 1). Please be in good time to purchase your ticket(s) in order that our group catch the 09.19 train to London Waterloo. (note : £33.65 Off-Peak Day Return with Senior Railcard).
On arrival at Waterloo Station we will make our way to the River Thames (stopping along the way for coffee and facilities at the Royal Festival Hall) before turning east along the Thames Path, crossing the Millennium Bridge and continuing eastward as far as St Katherine Docks.
Our ramble (4.0 miles) will take us past a number of London’s popular tourist landmarks allowing time along the way to stop and take in the busy London scene.
St Katherine Docks is our intended pit stop for lunch. There is a wide range of eateries to choose from located around the Docks e.g. Fatto A Mano, The Slug and Lettuce, Café Rouge, Côte Brasserie, Zizzi’s and The Dickens Inn….
We begin our return journey to Waterloo by crossing Tower Bridge, and from Tooley Street, catching the no 381 bus to Waterloo Station (please remember your bus passes) in order to catch the 15.35 train, arriving back in Winchester at 16.32
