The first part of the walk showcases the typical charm of Surrey, with its pretty villages and gentle green pastures. Still in the morning, we'll stop at Watts Chapel to appreciate this unique Grade I-listed terracotta building created by artist Mary Watts. The exterior is beautifully adorned with clay tiles featuring different styles, including Art Nouveau! Inside the Chapel, we will find extraordinary wall paintings.
The second part of the walk, after having lunch in Puttenham, takes us off the North Downs Way - through less travelled paths - into the surprisingly wild and uninhabited Surrey Heathlands—a vast area of woods, sandy grassland, and heather-covered moors that sometimes feels more like southern Spain than England!
It's a wonderful long walk, spanning 14.5 miles of undulating terrain with only one hill to climb.
There is pub in Puttenham and please bring a packed lunch
No booking is required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent upon a number of factors, such as the weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
