A walk that is inspired by King Harold’s march to the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Harold was crowned King of England on 6th January 1066. This set in motion a chain of events from the Battle of Stamford Bridge and ended in defeat at the Battle of Hastings.
We start at Robertsbridge and then walk back to Bodiam Castle. This section is over the lower hills of the High Weald between the valleys of the Rivers Rother and Brede and up to Battle on public footpaths. It is a mix of undulating arable farmland, livestock, meadow and woodland with an inordinate number of stiles
Please bring a packed lunch as we will not be having a long lunch break.
