Leader Brenda Cameron. 5 miles linear. We will have a short break during the walk, so you may wish to bring a snack. We start the walk with a stroll through the very pleasantly landscaped grounds surrounding the dental hospital and then cross Pershore Road and enter Cannon Hill Park. We soon follow the river Rea and a short canal section to Kings Norton Park passing a pretty hump-backed bridge. We cross the park along a beautiful avenue of beech trees then follow an enclosed path into Kings Norton Nature Reserve and stop for a view across Merecroft Pool, a surprisingly large body of water originally constructed to feed local canals - a rush-lined pool with some good birdlife on the water. This part of the path is one-way so we partly retrace our steps to exit the reserve and take a small path to Pershore Road for the 45 bus for Pebble Mill Road and the city centre. If you wish to get back onto Bristol Road where we started the walk it is a 5–10-minute walk up Pebble Mill Road. Or for anyone fancying refreshments at the end of the walk Wetherspoons at Kings Norton is just a few minutes away from the finish.
