Overview

A delightful but in places challenging early Summer walk which starts on the Coast, works its way inland and then back to the Coast. Starting at Runswick Bay it loops inland to Ellerby and Newton Mulgrave  then back to the coast, through woodland, to Staithes. From Staithes we take the coastal path back to Runswick Bay, passing the old fishing village of Port Mulgrave. The terrain is Field Paths, Farm tracks and  Cliff tops. The walk has a number of undulations with a few short sharp ups. There are a small number of stiles all in good condition. There is tree felling going on in the woodland approach to Staithes so it might be muddy.
