10.00 am Whaley Bridge Canal Wharf Car Park (Free).  Gets busy but some spaces just outside car park.  Don’t park on approach road (limited to 2 hours). This is an extension of a short walk I led in May.  8.7 miles, moderate, 1367ft ascent (OS Stats) Views are spectacular on Eccles Pike Road and on the return track from Eccles Pike. Some walking on quiet country roads. Most off road tracks are good, but muddy in some areas. Route available to download on ECR website. Route: Toddbrook Reservoir, Taxal Church, Hillbridge and Park Wood Nature Reserve, Shallcross Wood, Horwich End, Over Leigh, Horwich Farm, Ollerenshaw Hall, long gentle hill up Eccles Road to Eccles Pike, short steep climb to Eccles Pike, Lidgate, Eccles Fold. Beautiful footpath west (with stunning views of Chinley Churn), Buxworth, Silkhill Farm, return to car park. Should be back by 2.45 pm.
Also accessible by train/bus.  Toilet available in Whaley Bridge and Taxal Church.  Bring drinks and snack for coffee and lunch stops. Lift available from Handforth area.  Contact Melanie 07854 093785.
