The South Bucks Way is 23 miles long starting at Coombe Hill near Wendover and ending in Denham near Uxbridge. The first section of the walk (14 miles including the sections to and from stations) starts at Wendover station. Initially we walk along the Ridgeway, going up to Coombe Hill where the South Bucks Way officially starts, here there are great views across the surrounding countryside. We then descend through countryside and woodland to Great Missenden where we stop for lunch, there are facilities here but please bring a packed lunch.
After lunch we join the River Misbourne going through Little Missenden and then through pretty Shardeloes Park with its mansion and picturesque lakes before entering Amersham Old Town (there are several pubs and coffee shops in the Old Town), finally we follow a public footpath through Amersham and up to Amersham station.
Undulating with some ups or downs, although, nothing too strenuous.
Sections of the path can be muddy after rain. Surroundings: countryside, country park, villages, open access land, woodland.
Exit points: Great Missenden after 7 miles.
