Before the days shorten, this is an opportunity to enjoy the views and hills of the Peak District. We pass through fields and grassy paths to ascend to Bamford Ridge (no scrambling skills needed) on a wide and well defined stony path. From there we have fabulous views over Ladybower Reservoir and can see the hills of Hope valley. We descend through ferny forests and woods of twisted trees to cross the reservoir and take the Derwent Valley Trail and some single track paths downhill  to Bamford Mills and on towards the station, or towards the local pub. Ten minutes either way, making it twenty minutes to the station when leaving the Anglers Rest.

This is a moderate walk suitable for walkers with experience of uphill and walking 9.5 miles. It is not a beginners' walk.

There are stiles and we may pass cattle or sheep on our route.

Some paths may become muddy and present a slip risk, so boots are advised.

No dogs please, except for guide dogs.
