Overview

The hill of Craig Rhiwarth towers over the village of Llangynog at the head of the Tanat Valley. The area has numerous disused slate mines.

The ground is high moorland track and paths with associated heather, grassy tussocks and boggy areas. Most of the walk is within access area land.

There are a number of ups and downs on the route some of which are steep.  Overall, there is 2464 feet of ascent and the highest point is just under 2000 ft.

The walk is challenging but not technical.
