The river Ebble rises in the chalk hills east of Shaftsbury and runs down to join the river Avon at Salisbury. It is a quiet valley with high chalk hills to the north and south. We start at Berwick St John and climb White Sheet Hill to the north (we usually climb it from the south when we walk from Waldour Castle!). Down to the lovely village of Ebbesbourne Wake before returning via an Ox Drove and a very nice hillfort on the south side of the valley. Beautiful views all the way, weather permitting. Bring a couple of pounds to donate to the village hall for use of their carpark, and provisions for 2 or 3 stops. Walking pole advisable.

Meet and Park at the Berwick St John Village Hall on Water Street, not far from the Talbot Inn. Take the A30 east out of Shaftsbury and turn off about a mile after Ludwell. Lift sharing is advisable please. I can take 3 people from Warminster.
