An ascent to Pen-y-Gwely via the Ceiriog trail and descending to the river Ceiriog via a disused tramway. Beautiful hill and riverside views, floral meadows with larks, varied scenery, via country lanes, tracks and footpaths. 2 stops for coffee and lunch. The first part of the walk has a continuous ascent of nearly 2 miles but plenty of shade. There is also rough and uneven ground in places, but no stiles.
