Overview

Did you know there are still around 1500 gas powered street lights in London? London was the first city in the world to be lit by gas lamps and gaslights have continued to illuminate our streets for over 200 years.
This early evening walk of about 4 miles is through Hyde Park, St James's and Westminster to experience the soft glow of gas street lighting. There will be some descriptions and explanations as we go along.
Meet: At the exit of Lancaster Gate tube station.
Toilets: There are no toilet facilities on this walk.
Train: Lancaster Gate is on the Central Line - Zone 1.
