This walk visits the remaining parts of London's Roman Wall, the locations of the six gates to the city, the forum and the amphitheatre. It follows or crosses the Roman roads to Colchester, York, Wroxeter, Silchester, Chichester and Dover. The leader will also provide details of churches and other buildings in which Roman artefacts can be seen, but we will not enter them during the walk. There are many possible drop-out points, including leaving at Monument near the end of the walk for a circular walk.
Train: Monument station is on the Circle and District lines with underground links to Northern line, Docklands Light Railway and Central line (the Waterloo & City line does not run on Sundays).
Lunch: picnic or café at the Barbican Centre.
Toilet: en route at the Tower of London, lunch at the Barbican Centre, and at the end of the walk at London Bridge.
