From Cookham station we walk to fields beside the Thames, which we cross in the centre of Cookham. From there we climb steadily but gently to Hedsor, with a brief section on road, before moving to fields and woods. We enter Burnham Beeches and continue to our lunch stop at The Beeches Eco Café. After lunch we continue through Burnham Beeches, with some road walking before Cocksherd Wood and the greenery of the Lynch Hill Valley which takes us (almost) to Burnham station.
Train: recommended train Liverpool Street (09:18), Paddington (09:30), arrives Maidenhead 10:14, giving time for delays, toilets and coffee kiosk before 10:33 departure which arrives Cookham 10:40. A later connection is possible but tight. Buy return to Cookham. Freedom Pass holders need pay only Maidenhead to Cookham. Contactless is cheaper than a prepaid ticket with Railcard discount, but you must exit at Maidenhead with your Freedom Pass and touch back in.
Lunch: at The Beeches Eco Café (also has picnic area and toilets).
Toilet: No toilets on the Elizabeth line. Toilets at Maidenhead (while changing trains), Cookham (may be closed), The Beeches Eco Café (lunch) and Burnham station.
