A moderately paced walk through woodland, lanes and farms on the Surrey/Sussex border. the path is undulating, but with no steep ascents. Our destination is the Hannah Peschar Garden, ten acres of beautiful gardens, full of plants and ponds and a privately curated commercial sculpture exhibition.
Entrance to the garden is £10.50 for concessions (65+), and £7.50 per head for Gardener's World 241 card holders. I hope to spend up to 2 hours in the garden.
There are pubs in Ockley on the way back to the station.
Train: 09:41 Victoria, 09:48 Clapham Junction; 10:13 Sutton. Trains are hourly.
Lunch: a picnic in the garden, where there is a shaded area with tables and chairs. There is no cafe in the garden, but the curator sells tea and coffee in a very low key way.
Toilet: there are no toilets before or after the garden.
