This is a 13-mile gently undulating walk from picturesque Tenterden, which stands on the edge of the Weald, overlooking the valley of the River Rother, which makes an ideal location to commence a walk.
Our route takes us from the town, heading in a southerly direction, across tracks, fields and open pasture towards Ashenden. Following the banks of the Reading Sewer, we then make our way past a couple of pumping stations, to arrive at Potmans Heath, to continue through to Wittersham, where we will stop for our picnic lunch stop at the village church.
After our short break, we join the High Weald Landscape Trail, which overall is a 90-mile route from Horsham to Rye. We follow this long-distance route for all of the remainder of our walk back to Tenterden, highlights incude the National Trust owned Smallhythe Place.
On arrival back at Tenterden, there are a selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, for those wishing to indulge in some post walk refreshment.
