We pop over the county border and into East Sussex for this walk of 11.5 miles, which starts from Three Oaks. This small village is situated between the towns of Hastings and Rye, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
With close to 1400 foot of ascent, there are several steady climbs throughout a wonderful exploration of the area, so come and join us, as we walk in the land of William the Conqueror.
Heading clockwise, we commence our circuit along the 1066 Country Walk, which is a 31-mile length route that runs from Pevensey Castle to Rye. We head through Guestling Green and Guestling Wood, remaining on the 1066, to reach North's Seat. At this point, there is a picnic area for the group to have the usual short stop for lunch, however there is no pub nearby, but there are toilets here.
After the break we climb northwards along Mill Lane, through woodland and over the railway, with the coast behind us. Then almost at the finish, we rejoin the 1066 to complete the walk, where the Three Oaks pub awaits thirsty walkers.
