Overview

This is a 12-mile walk, starting from the picturesque village of Woodchurch, which heads over open countryside, farmland fields and passes beside a windmill, just before completing the circuit.

Heading in a southerly direction, we make progress through Maiden Wood, followed by Haycross Wood, before passing a couple of farms to turn north at Great Piper Wood. After a section along a country lane, we continue on to reach High Halden, at which point we will take our short picnic lunch at the village green. Whilst handily placed next door is "The Chequers on the Green" public house for post lunch drinks, before the second-leg of the walk.

More woodland areas follow on the return to Woodchurch, as we meander back via Susans Hill & Shirkoak, before the windmill appears in the distance. The ancient smock windmill is perched above the village and there are extensive views over the surrounding countryside towards the coast.

Walk leader is Tina Frenett
