This is an 8mile low-level walk across fields and along some minor roads, but it is mainly on forest tracks (these may be muddy at the start of the walk, but should improve as the walk continues). There are about 8 stiles and 935ft of ascent and descent along the route. If the weather allows, there are some lovely views of the surrounding hills along the route.
From Ingleby Greenhow village car park we walk along field paths to Bank Foot and we then climb a short way to follow the track through the woods (Battersby Plantation). This track finishes at the lower end of 'The Incline' -with only 100 yards or so left to walk downhill (where the slope is starting to level out). We follow the main forest track around the valley head, then take the track to New Sheepfold Farm and return to Ingleby Greenhow via tracks near Ingleby Manor.
Parking is free in the village, or in the village car park, but there are no toilet facilities there.
Coffee after the walk, for those who wish to join, will be at The Dudley Arms cafe in Ingleby Greenhow village.
There is also a new venture at New Sheepfold Farm on the route, (very near where we plan to stop for lunch) which sells coffee and cakes.
