Interviewing author, Lucy O’Brien, about her terrific book, 'Lead Sister - The Life of Karen Carpenter'. This will be followed by audience questions, a book signing, & then live music from award-winning singer-songwriter, Hannah White and Keiron Marshall, who will be performing songs by The Carpenters.

Lucy O'Brien is a writer & academic who specialises in writing about women in music. She is the author of She Bop: The Definitive History of Women in Popular Music. It inspired the Radio 2 series She Bop, and two exhibitions: She Bop at the National Portrait Gallery in 2001, & She-Bop-A-Lula, at the Strand Gallery, 2012. She has also written celebrated books on Madonna: Like An Icon & in-depth biographies of Dusty Springfield, Annie Lennox, & Skin.
Lucy was one of the few female staff writers for NME & has contributed to numerous titles including Q, Mojo, NME, the Sunday Times & the Guardian. She has also acted as a consultant & guest contributor in television & radio, on Channel 4 News, BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, Radio London & numerous BBC 4 documentaries.
Hannah White is an award winning singer-songwriter & achieved the distinction of earning an Americana Music Association award for Best Song last year. Her album, 'Sweet Revolution' has been shortlisted for Album of the Year this year.
