We start at Wimbledon station and climb up through suburban Wimbledon to the Common. We cross the Common passing Caesar’s Well and on to Richmond Park. We pass through the Isabella Plantation before existing the Park at Ham and crossing the River Thames at Teddington Lock to reach a late lunch stop in Bushy Park. The lunch stop is about 2/3 of the way through the walk and so it is anticipated that it will be a late lunch at about 1.30pm.
After lunch we pass through Bushy Park and Hampton Court Park to reach the River and follow the towpath around to Kingston.
We may or may not see any deer but there will be ducks on the river for certain.
Packed lunch is recommended however snacks and hot drinks are available at the lunch stop.
Lavatory facilities are available at Wimbledon Station at the entrance to Richmond Park and at the lunch stop.
There might be muddy bits on Wimbledon Common but otherwise the route has been chosen to be reasonable underfoot.
