Overview

This is a woodland and parkland walk undulating throughout across Berkhamsted Common and the Ashridge Estate to Little Gaddesden for lunch.  Managed by The National Trust, Ashridge Estate is an area of the Chiltern Hills with beech and oak woodlands, commons and chalk downlands. Expect some mud and standing water on the route. The afternoon continues across Aldbury Common to Tring Station.

Lunch is a picnic in Little Gaddesden church yard, with scope for a drink and toilets at the pub a few minutes away. It is also possible to stop for refreshments and toilets later at the Estate Visitors Centre.

Train Euston Station 09.54; 10.06 Harrow and Wealdstone. Buy return to Tring. There are frequent trains back from Tring. Use toilets on the train.
